EXPERIENCE JOURNEY OF SAINT ELIZABETH ANN SETON
Bicentennial Weekend Events – July 31, 2009 – August 2, 2009
A full weekend has been planned for this exciting historic event. Your family will have the opportunity to take tours of the hallowed grounds, attend showings of The Seton Legacy DVD, witness and participate in a live reenactment of Mother Seton’s walk from the nearby Grotto at Mount Saint Mary’s University. - August 1: Concurrent informational sessions held throughout the day at 10:30 a.m., 1:30 p.m. and 3:30 p.m. and are open to the public. Concert in the Basilica beginning at 7:30 p.m. View complete details here.
- August 2: Blessing of the Seton Legacy Garden at 10:00 a.m.; live reenactment begins at 9:00 a.m. Tickets for the Noon Mass in the Basilica are still available - read details to obtain.
NOTE: Day Pilgrimages Canceled
We regret to announce that the two previously scheduled one-day pilgrimages, which were to depart from the Mother Seton House on Paca Street to Emmitsburg and that were schedule on July 31 or for August 1, have been canceled, effective June 19, 2009.
Live Reenactment Procession

The Conestoga Wagon, left, will accompany Mother Seton and walkers to the Seton Shrine on Sunday, August 2, 2009. The procession will leave the National Shrine of Grotto of Our Lady of Lourdes at 9:00 a.m. South Seton Avenue will be closed for the procession arriving at the Seton Shrine campus at approximately 11:00 a.m.
